Understanding Our Ministry

When we talk about our men's and women's ministries, we're not talking about buildings or organizations.

We're talking about the men and women who represent everything we work and pray for.

Our ministry is the people whose faith is actively moving them every day from addiction to discipleship.

Tom Thompson, founder of The Refuge, explained that to the brother of our Men's Ministry at Encounter last weekend.

What Is Encounter?

Encounter is one of the most significant events we hold each month.

It's the first opportunity the newest men in our Ministry, from Phase One, to meet the brothers who have already progressed further along.

It's also the only time every man in our Ministry is together in one spot.

Saturday, we held our March Encounter. It was a beautiful and powerful afternoon of praise and worship, a chance for The Refuge leaders to share updates with the guys and also answer questions, and for some of the brothers to share their testimonies.

After the official event ends, the guys have a chance to hang out together informally around our Phase Two house to talk, pray, or just share what they've learned with the guys who have joined more recently.

Here's a look at Saturday's Encounter.

February Encounter Weekend

The men in our Ministry celebrated Encounter this weekend.

It's a monthly event that brings alumni and men from all phases of the Ministry together to meet, share stories, play games, and then hold a praise and worship service.

January Encounter

We celebrated our January Encounter on Saturday.

It's a special monthly event we hold that represents a chance to foster a real encounter with God and with your brothers from all phases of the ministry.

Men in the ministry as well as alumni meet, play games, enjoy lunch, and share stories, before holding a praise and worship service.

It's also an opportunity for The Refuge staff to come together, hold meetings, plan, and pray together.
